When you invest with Fisher Funds, you trust us to make smart decisions to protect and grow your investments. So our first priority is keeping your money secure. Here are some of the things we’ve put in place to give you confidence about how we look after your money.

    We always confirm your identity

Before any conversation about your investments, we’ll ask you to complete a security check to confirm it’s really you - a bit like passport control at the airport.

It’s why you need to enter your username and unique password to access your online account or answer some security questions when you call.

If you happen to forget your login details, you can request a reminder of your username or reset your password through a separate process. It’s important you’re the only person who knows your password, so nobody but you can get access to your online account. Our team don’t have access to your password, and we’ll never ask you for it over the phone.

We know security checks can be a hassle, but they’re important to keep your money secure. So, just like your passport, you can’t travel without them.

We keep your money in a trust

If you’re invested in one of our KiwiSaver or Managed Funds products, your money is held in trust by your scheme’s Supervisor. This is a separate legal entity that represents the best interests of members. While it’s our job at Fisher Funds to decide the best way to invest your money, the Supervisor is there to oversee how we’re managing the scheme.

We double-check before you withdraw funds

We have a few security steps in place before you can withdraw your money for the first time. These help us verify your identity and your bank account. Once you’ve completed your first withdrawal, subsequent withdrawals are easier as we have your details on file.

Before your first withdrawal, if we haven’t done so already, we’ll need to verify your identity and get proof of your address. In most cases we can do this electronically by sending a link to your smartphone. If you prefer you can provide us with certified copies of your identity documents and proof of your address. You can either email these to us (as long as your withdrawal is under $100,000) or post your documents to us. Our online guides have more about this process for both KiwiSaver and Managed Funds.

It’s also important that your money goes into the right account. So, before we make a payment, we ask for a bank statement or an internet banking screenshot to confirm that your name and bank account details all match up.

If you’re withdrawing a lot of money, there are a couple of extra security steps involved. If the amount is more than $50,000, we’ll give you a call to get verbal confirmation of your withdrawal. If this is your first withdrawal and the amount is over $100,000, our team will also need to verify your original documents to double-check all the details, so you’ll need to post your documents to us.

Security is here to keep you safe.

We know these processes can sometimes seem frustrating, but every step is in place to help make sure you’re the only person who can access your money. Just like that security check at the airport, it’s just something we need to do to all stay safe.

If you have any questions about security, or anything to do with your investments, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our team is more than happy to help.
