Fisher Funds Management is honoured to have won the Fund Manager of the Year – Bonds at the 2019 INFINZ Awards held last week (the leading financial industry awards across New Zealand). A detailed submission to a panel of three judges was followed up with a robust interview with the award based on both risk-adjusted fund performance and an assessment of the team’s decision-making process, risk management framework, fees and compliance standards.
David McLeish (Head of Fixed Income) accepted the accolade on behalf of the fixed income team. "This is a celebration of having the courage to be different in the pursuit of investment success for our clients. Our analysis suggested a slowdown in global economic activity was underway from mid-2018 and that the New Zealand economy would not be immune from this. We reflected this through a range of active decisions, throughout the year, which differentiated us from our competitors. I am truly privileged to be part of such a dedicated and talented investment team. This award is recognition of the immense contribution they make every day. Thank you to our loyal clients - our inspiration is your epic future and we are privileged to be on this journey with you.”
Frank Jasper, Chief Investment Officer at Fisher Funds added: "The fixed interest team has delivered outstanding investment returns over all periods. Working closely with our clients and delivering both strong investments results and an engaged two-way relationship is the core of the Fisher Funds brand proposition. We have built the largest New Zealand based investment team with a genuine global focus. Our 20 strong team operate with a global approach that provides unique insights to local investors. We are committed to deep research and long term strategic thinking to generate market beating insights.”
Fisher Funds was also a finalist in the Equity category. Launched in 1998 as a boutique New Zealand share fund manager with $17 million of funds, today Fisher Funds manages over $8.9 billion for more than 275,000 investors of which half is in fixed income assets. These funds are held on behalf of a diverse range of clients including community trusts, charities, councils, insurance companies, iwi, schools, corporate pension schemes, KiwiSaver and individual investment clients.
